Sara Stark - St. Jude Patient from Vancouver, WA
In November of 2002, just before Sara's 2nd birthday, she was diagnosed with cancer. She had surgery to remove a tumor, but radiation treatment was not recommended because she was too young. Eli - St. Jude Patient from Tri Cities, WA
In 1989, he was born with a genetic disease called Hurlers syndrome that requires a bone marrow transplant for treatment. His first bone marrow transplant, performed in 1990 at a regional hospital in the Pacific Northwest, was unsuccessful. Brooklyn Amy - St. Jude Patient from Olympia, WA
We found out that Brooklyn had Osteopetrosis March 12, 2004. Her liver and spleen were enlarged and Dr. Rosenbloom sent us to go see Dr. Kanwar who had been a fellow at St. Jude. Tyler - St. Jude Patient from Olympia, WA
Tyler was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on June 6, 2006. He had surgery to remove the tumor at Children's Hospital in Seattle. In July of 2006 he and his mom Connie traveled to Memphis, Tennessee for treatment at St. Jude. They spent almost seven months in the good hands of the staff there while his dad Steve and his sister Jessica held down the fort in Olympia. Between treatments Tyler and Connie stayed with nearby family members Kathy and Lee where they acquired a southern drawl and a penchant for fried foods!
