Brooklyn

We found out that Brooklyn had Osteopetrosis March 12, 2004. Her liver and spleen were enlarged and Dr. Rosenbloom sent us to go see Dr. Kanwar who had been a fellow at St. Jude. After three long weeks we finally found out what was going on with our sweet daughter. We were put in contact with the woman who has done so much to save our little girls life, Dr. Kim Kasow. We waited for several months to go to transplant because Brooklyn's protocol had to be approved by the FDA. She finally received her stem cell transplant on September 23, 2004! Her mommy was her donor and was a 5 out of 6 match! From the time of her transplant on Brooklyn has been textbook perfect! We only had to spend 32 days in the hospital and that includes all of her chemo! Our story is so much more complex then just that but we don't have all day, do we? We are so proud of Brooklyn and all that she has done. What an impressive little girl! Through her we see how happy and pure life can be.
Brooklyn and her family have had the good fortune of being a St. Jude family. While getting treatment at St. Jude patients are never asked to pay.
